BIO

Lauren Simkin Berke is a Brooklyn-based American artist, illustrator, educator, and occasional publisher of art books and zines, exhibiting with A.I.R. Gallery, and teaching at FIT, SVA, and Parsons. Lauren has a BA in Anthropology from Cornell University, and an MFA in Illustration as Visual Essay from the School of Visual Arts. Their first picture book, Were I Not A Girl: The Inspiring and True Story of Dr. James Barry, was published in 2020 with Anne Schwartz Books, and their second picture book, B is for Bibliophile, will be published 2026 with Enchanted Lion Books.
