Simple shapes, straight forward visual storytelling and converging influences, disciplines and tools are the basis of Carlos Aponte’s work. He was born in New York and raised in Puerto Rico. He attended Parsons School of Design and The Fashion Institute of Technology, and was a student of Jack Potter at SVA.
He teaches drawing at Fashion Institute of Technology and currently works and resides in Jersey City with his partner.
Carlos’ work is central to the 2026 inaugural exhibition at the National Museum of the Latino, part of the Smithsonian in Washington D.C.
