Born and raised in New York City, Carly Kuhn (formerly The Cartorialist) studied television, radio, and film at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. She spent 12 years in Los Angeles, working at Creative Artists Agency and in TV comedy production and development, and trained in improv at The Groundlings before finding her way to illustration.
A serious artist who doesn’t take herself too seriously, her work spans portraits, fashion, weddings, murals, restaurant design, and branding. Inspired by pop culture, antiques, and the small quirks of everyday life, she brings humor, warmth, and charm to each piece—capturing the world from her distinct point of view as a New Yorker.
