James Gallagher

James Gallagher works in collage as a means to investigate human form and personal identity. Gallagher’s work has hung in galleries around the world and he has curated international collage exhibitions in New York City, Berlin, and Cork County, Ireland. His art has been featured in publications such as Elephant, Juxtapoz, and Kolaj Magazines; The Paris Review, The New York Times and Communication Arts; and was featured in the HBO Docuseries Sex Diaries. He was the featured artist at both Shoppe Object 2024 as well as the inaugural Shoppe Object Paris in 2026. He is the co-editor of Gestalten’s Cutting Edges: The Art of Contemporary Collage and was the publisher, editor and creative director of the contemporary art magazine Secret Behavior. Gallagher earned a BFA from The School of Visual Arts. He lives in New York City with his wife and three children.
